Hits:  |  Time:2017-07-06

The 7th Animal/Plant Quantitative Genetics Conference of China was held by Animal Genetics and Breeding Branch of Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine China Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, and Shanghai Jiaotong University from June 30th to July 2nd in Shanghai. Academician Junyi Gai from Nanjing Agricultural University and Changxin Wu from Chinese Agricultural University hosted this conference, and about 150 professors and graduate students from different universities and research institutes participated in the conference. Dr. Jiankang Wang, Luyan Zhang, and other four members from Quantitative genetics group attended this conference.

The purpose of the meeting is to show the latest research results of quantitative genetics in China, promote exchange and cooperation between researchers, graduate students, explore new technology of life science for quantitative genetics research. Academician Junyi Gai reported the strategy of the genomic selection in plant breeding. Academician Changxin Wu reported some discussions on quantitative trait breeding of livestock.

Meanwhile, our group shared four reports during the conference. Dr. Jiankang Wang reported the content of the new published book “quantitative genetics”. Dr. Luyan Zhang reported genetic analysis of multi-parents populations. Dr. Changbin Yin reported the construction and genetic analysis of the rice hybrid population. Ji Yao introduced the prediction models of wheat genomic selection. After discussion of Academic Committee, it is confirmed that the next conference will be held by our group in 2019.

In the end, Academician Junyi Gai summarizes the conference, encouraged the young researchers in quantitative genetics, and gave suggestions for the development of quantitative genetics research.
